Reflections on Nature

Understanding the place of man in nature is of fundamental importance. This is a timeless fact, but it is particularly significant now when we face major issues regarding our impact on the environment and growing public awareness of this. Anyone concerned with the future of our planet must surely delight in an encounter with Páll Skúlason’s enlightening insights into the relationship of human beings to what we nowadays call “the environment”. In Páll‘s writings the moral perspective was always the main focus, not least what he called the “moral significance of nature”, which is the main subject of this book. Páll Skúlason (1945–2015) studied at the Catholic University of Louvain, was Professor of Philosophy at the University of Iceland and rector of the same university from 1997 to 2005.
